Challenges make us stronger

In August 2020, two months earlier than expected, we had finished both ends of Túnel de Occidente, one of the main connections of Autopista Al Mar 1, a 176 Km Highway in Colombia. This P3 project consists of 176 km and includes one of the greatest engineering schemes ever developed in the country: a 4.6 km long tunnel which is the result of the dedicated work of 241 Sacyr employees for 23 months.

Medellin and Santa Fe de Antioquía have never been so close to each other! Based on a “safety first” philosophy, we are building two independent tubes that will help improve transit times and overall road safety by only allowing one-way traffic.

We are so proud to improve connectivity and road safety, serving a total of 13 municipalities of the region of Antioquia.

Santa Fe-Peñalisa: a safer road for Colombians

Santa Fe-Peñalisa is a 66km section of Al Mar 1 Highway that will be in operation within the next few months. This section will be essential to the improvement of the day to day lives of the people who live in rural areas of Colombia.

Ruben Rivera, a neighbor from “El Espinal” can’t hold his smile when talking about the new Santa Fe-Peñalisa road: "Before the rehabilitation, the road between Santa Fe de Antioquia and Peñalisa was a nightmare, it was not safe at all, and now we are all going to benefit from this.”

With these works on Autopista Al Mar 1, we are not just contributing to the development of the region of Antioquia, we are also doing our part to help the overall well-being of Colombians.
