Ruta 78 Highway
Sacyr Concesiones has started the operation of the Santiago-San Antonio (Ruta 78) highway in Chile. With an investment of 892 million dollars (790 million euros) for a maximum variable term of 32 years, the project comprises a 132.8 km highway and will benefit approximately 1.7 million people.
The road constitutes a main axis for cargo transportation between Santiago and Puerto de San Antonio and an important connection for commuters in the vicinity of its route.
The scope of works includes the improvement of several sections of the existent highway, the widening of roundabouts, the construction of new ramps to the ports, the renovation of the bridge Manuel Rodriguez and the new junctions, with the aim of enhancing security and reducing travel times.
