We arrived in Santiago! Sacyr Foundation has cooperated to carry out this therapeutic activity for oncological patients from our Infanta Cristina University Hospital P3, located in Parla (Madrid). Accompanied by a team of healthcare workers, 14 women have walked a total of 115 km of the Camino de Santiago from Sarria.

This project, supported by Sacyr Foundation, aims to raise awareness of the positive effects that doing physical activities and keeping a healthy lifestyle have on oncological diseases. In this fifth edition have participated women that suffer or have suffered from breast cancer, achieving the challenge of walking more than 20km a day to complete five stages of the Camino. During the last stage they were joined by a representative of Sacyr Foundation as well as the major of Parla, which is the city where Infanta Cristina University Hospital is located.

The healthcare workers team that accompanied them during the entire pilgrimage was composed of one doctor, two nurses, one nursing assistant and a physiotherapist. They had already direct contact with the patients during the disease development. This activity allowed them to strengthen their doctor-patient relationship.

We always aim to create value for people through our P3 projects. In this case, in the Infanta Cristina University Hospital, we wanted to improve patients’ self-esteem by means of this personal growth challenge.
