Our international roots
Our story begins in the mid 90’s along the beautiful central coastal highway stretch of Chile. Our very first P3 project, Los Vilos- La Serena toll road, was awarded in 1996.
Thanks to our bi-color growth strategy, combining both brownfield and greenfield asset developments, we were quickly on our way to fulfilling our vision of becoming an agile and integrated P3 development company. That same year, Sacyr Group founded Itinere, which would eventually become Sacyr Concesiones, and began acquiring and upgrading existing projects in Spain (ENA and Europistas) as well as in Brazil and Portugal (acquisition of Somague S.A. in 2004).
All of this was followed by a greenfield growth strategy. After gaining experience on the ground, Itinere started winning new greenfield projects in Spain, Chile, Ireland and Costa Rica, solidifying its local presence and international roots.
Sacyr Concesiones is born
In 2009, Sacyr Concesiones emerged as a brand-new company fully integrated into Sacyr Group and went on to focus exclusively on greenfield P3 project development, managing 28 assets in 6 countries across 3 continents.
Working hand in hand with Sacyr Group's other business divisions, we created synergies and innovative solutions right from the early stages of every project. These synergies combined with sound and savvy financing strategies led to exponential organic growth and made Sacyr Concesiones the 4th largest greenfield P3 project developer in the world, amassing a diversified global portfolio of highways, railways, hospitals, transport hubs and airports.
There’s a new leader in town
Today, Sacyr is known as one of the top worldwide infrastructure developers. We have expanded our presence into new countries, partnering with local providers and establishing long-term relationships with local communities.
In addition, we have strengthened our relationships with financial institutions all over the world. This has helped us to successfully secure some of the most important P3 operations globally. An example of this is the Pedemontana Veneta Highway which is the largest bond operation issued in Europe for a greenfield project in a decade and has been awarded with the European PPP Deal of the Year, European Transport Deal of the Year.
Our successful P3 management and vertical integration have received international recognition: we are the 3rd largest infrastructure developer in Latin America and the 4th most important greenfield developer worldwide, according to ENR.

Highlights

2017
We successfully completed the financing for the Superstrada Pedemontana Veneta project, a 95km toll road in northeast Italy. The financing structure deployed is one of the largest bonds issued in Europe for a greenfield road. Internationally recognized, it received several awards, including the European PPP Deal of the Year, European Transport Deal of the Year, and European Road Deal of the Year.

2018
We won the biggest P3 contract ever awarded in Uruguay. With an investment of around $1 billion, the Central Railway consists of a 273 Km project that includes design, construction, finance, operation and maintenance. This vital connection will strategically link the heart of the country with the international port of Montevideo

2019
We do our bit for the planet and a good example of this is our first waste treatment plant in south-east Melbourne. With the capacity to process 120,000 tonnes of organic waste per year, this indoor composting facility serves over 1.2 billion people.

2020
At Sacyr we have played a decisive role fighting against COVID outbreak challenges, in particular, in our hospitals in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Chile and Mexico. Definitely, this is a year we'll never forget in which we have also signed our first first ever P3 project in the United States.
