Value for Society

We discovered two new species of orchids in our P3 project Rumichaca-Pasto

We protect the biodiversity of southwestern Colombia

Sacyr Concesiones

Sacyr advocates environmental protection in every project. In Rumichaca-Pasto road project (Colombia)

Sacyr has identified two new species of orchids during the course of different initiatives for the environmental protection of endangered species.

We wanted to honor this beautiful region by giving names according to the department and the Guáitara River: thus, the new species are called Epidendrum narinense and Epidendrum guaitaranum, names that have been Latinized by Harvard University, complying with the protocols of the International Plant Names Index (IPNI), the entity that regulates the names of new plant species worldwide.

This achievement has been possible thanks to our commitment to sustainability and biodiversity throughout the development of this project, initiatives that we will continue to undertake throughout the operation and maintenance phase of the Concessionaire Unión del Sur, in charge of the Rumichaca - Pasto project
